  • Over the river & through the woods

Confession: yesterday I rode over the George Washington Bridge, and up River Road, for the first time ever! And I didn't want to come home. It's so beautiful out there: trees, birds, the river. And hills. Yes. But for every uphill that burned, there was a soaring downhill: a balm to the legs.

I've been hearing about the magical River Road for years, but I've been stuck in a loop, commuting, and doing laps in Prospect Park. Yesterday, I finally broke out of my regular orbit -- and so can you!

Because every Sunday morning, Redbeard Bikes leads a shop ride up the West Side Highway, over the GW Bridge, and up River Road or 9W.

This is a no-drop ride, which means we'll go at the pace of our slowest rider. We'll set the pace and distance based on who shows up, and we'll check in with each other along the way to see how people are doing.

Every Sunday. Meet at Redbeard Bikes at 7:15 AM, depart at 7:30 AM.

Tomorrow on the blog: a Q-and-A about what to wear and what to bring. Stay tuned.
