  • Kasia's Picks: For the Gal Who Is Never Not Riding

We couldn't fit all our favorite things on our official Holiday Gift List, so we've put together a few holiday gift bundles around different themes.

    First up: Kasia's picks.

"Some people stop riding when they become shop owners. The opposite happened to me. I became that gal who is never not riding. Metrocard what? I couldn't have the fun I have, without my gear. It keeps me happy in the saddle at all hours, in all seasons."

  • Velocio Signature Bib Will Rock Your World

Equinox picked the Velocio Women's Signature Bib Shorts for their list of 7 fall cycling essentials -- and we agree 100%.

The Velocio bib is the best bib I've worn. Ladies, take note: the mesh bib upper = no straps sliding around.

I swear, this thing makes you faster. (A lion doesn't think twice about its skin; it simply chases the gazelle.)

Redbeard Bikes is the only shop in New York to carry the line! Both the shorts and knickers versions of the bib are available in the shop now. We also have the new spin tops and spin shorts.

You can try the Velocio bib for 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can return it for a refund.

  • Women's Fit Clinic

Thanks to all the amazing women who came out to our first ever fit clinic last night. We were impressed by your knowledge, your questions, your love of cycling!

For those who missed the event, please visit us at the shop to learn how a bike fitting can take you to the next level.

Many thanks to our partner, Liv Cycling USA, and Jen Audia, who led the workshop.

  • 10/7 Redbeard Bikes/Liv Women's Fit, Form & Function Clinic

Redbeard Bikes and Liv Cycling are pleased to present a Women's Fit, Form & Function clinic at the shop on Tuesday, October 7th (7-9pm).

Women of all riding levels and styles are welcome.

Join us for a fun and informative evening about proper proper bike fit, ideal riding posture, and how to pick the best bike for your riding style and ability.

Refreshments will be served. We will offer participants 15% off women's apparel & shoes, and 15% off bike fittings (must be scheduled in 2014).

    RSVPS appreciated here

Redbeard Bikes is located at 69 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

  • This week's rides

We've been quite lucky with weather thus far -- Sundays have been by and large sunny!
But after last Sunday's rain, we realized we should clarify: rain the morning of the ride cancels the ride. That said, if it's just drizzling/looks like it might clear up, come on out! In these cases we may revise the route (i.e. do laps in Prospect Park instead of going up to River Road), but we will ride!
    Upcoming rides:
    • One of our customers, Guy, has organized a ride to Nyack happening this Saturday. Departure at 7:15 AM from DUMBO or 8 AM from Fairway on the Upper West Side. If you'd like to join, please reply to this thread.
    • Our women's ride is this (and every) Thursday, meet at 8:30 PM at Grand Army Plaza.
    • Sunday morning shop ride to River Road, meet at 7:15 AM at the shop.
    • We're planning a special ride for Saturday, August 30th, to support the Afghan Women's National Cycling Team. Stay tuned for details.
Got any fun rides planned? We encourage you to share them.

Looking for rides? Bikenyc is a great resource.
  • Fly in Style with Velocio

Many of you know that we've been stuck on the question of women's cycling clothing. We wanted to offer something original...but what?

Then Kristy Scrymgeour walked into the shop. Kristy is the co-founder of Velocio, a new line of beautiful, high-performing cycling clothing for women and men. Turns out her office is across the street from our shop! DUMBO is full of serendipitous surprises.

We are very excited to be the first shop in New York City to offer Velocio. We'll have women's jerseys and bib shorts in the shop in a couple of weeks - can't wait for you to see them!

I've been riding in the Signature Bib Short. It's hands down the best piece of cycling apparel I've ever worn.

Check out the entire Velocio collection here.

Got your eye on something specific? Email us, redbeard@redbeardbikes.com, and we'll happily special order it. (This goes for Gore Bike Wear, too.)
