Job Openings @ Redbeard Bikes
We are looking for a few good people to join our team!
If you are passionate about riding bikes, and getting others to ride bikes, please keep reading.
__
Redbeard Bikes is a bike fit studio and full-service bike shop in DUMBO, Brooklyn. We opened our doors in late 2012. We are a busy, growing shop.
We work with Parlee, Mosaic, Seven, & Gunnar for custom builds. We are also the home to Brompton, Giant/Liv, Specialized & All-City bikes.
We are looking for someone to join our team as soon as possible, so that we can train you before busy season starts in April.
We call this role “front of house,” because you will spend the majority of your time in the front of the shop, working with customers. You will sell bikes and accessories, and work the register. You will keep the store looking clean, organized and attractive.
In this role, you are answering questions and solving problems (which can also be desires or needs). Candidates should be comfortable talking to people. New York City retail or hospitality experience is usually helpful. The ideal candidate is a great team player, an excellent listener, a self-starter, an independent learner who can soak up new knowledge, someone with tough skin who can give and receive feedback. Attention to detail and strong ethics are a must.
You will be part of a small team (4-7 people). You will work alongside the owners themselves. Expect to learn a lot about running a small business!
Merchandising, Photoshop and social media skills are a huge plus.
This is a full-time position. You will work 5 days a week, including weekends.
Fluent English required, any additional languages are a plus (we get some tourist traffic).
Please write us a note telling us why you’d like to work at Redbeard Bikes, and resume to redbeard@redbeardbikes.com.
We ask that you visit the shop before you apply. -

Notes from the Road: Ronkonkoma & beyond
Mark Wagner shares this ride report!
On Saturday, November 12th, a handful of hearty souls braved the cold north wind to explore new roads deep on Long Island. Meandering through suburbia, they made their way to the rolling north shore, passing Nikola Tesla's laboratory and the ill-fated Shoreham nuclear power plant, and on into farm country. All the great Long Island cash crops were on display: sod, apples, cabbage, pumpkins, buffalo, and more.
After a stop at the Riverhead Diner to refuel and reheat, the group slipped deep into the tree-lined backroads of the Long Island pine barrens. Unfortunately, by this point the cold wind had taken a toll on the pace of the ride, but everyone rallied together to make it back to the Ronkonkoma station with mere minutes to spare before their train home to the city was due to depart. -
