Hours:
  • This week's rides

We've been quite lucky with weather thus far -- Sundays have been by and large sunny!
But after last Sunday's rain, we realized we should clarify: rain the morning of the ride cancels the ride. That said, if it's just drizzling/looks like it might clear up, come on out! In these cases we may revise the route (i.e. do laps in Prospect Park instead of going up to River Road), but we will ride!
    Upcoming rides:
    • One of our customers, Guy, has organized a ride to Nyack happening this Saturday. Departure at 7:15 AM from DUMBO or 8 AM from Fairway on the Upper West Side. If you'd like to join, please reply to this thread.
    • Our women's ride is this (and every) Thursday, meet at 8:30 PM at Grand Army Plaza.
    • Sunday morning shop ride to River Road, meet at 7:15 AM at the shop.
    • We're planning a special ride for Saturday, August 30th, to support the Afghan Women's National Cycling Team. Stay tuned for details.
Got any fun rides planned? We encourage you to share them.

  • Ride with Redbeard!

Ride with Redbeard tomorrow! Before the summer runs out!

Meet us at the shop at 7:15 AM for a 7:30 AM departure. Riders of all levels welcome!

We will ride up the West Side, over the George Washington Bridge and up River Road. We plan to be back at the shop at 11 AM. Those who wish to continue riding, can do so, of course!
  • Ladies' Night Rides Are Back!

We're bringing back the Ladies' Night Rides! Because nothing is lovelier than sweating out the work week frustrations in the breeze of Prospect Park.

This is a great chance to meet other women who love to ride bikes!

    What:
3-5 laps in Prospect Park (10-15 miles). First lap will be warm-up, then we'll pick up the pace & get a nice workout.

When: Thursday nights @ 8:30 PM
    (only heavy rain cancels)

Where: Meet at Grand Army Plaza at the top of Prospect Park.
(look for Kasia in a black & red Redbeard jersey on the Plaza at the entrance to the Park)

What to bring: front & rear bike lights, water, and all your energy!

Questions? Email me, kasia@redbeardbikes.com, or drop by the shop!

  • Over the river & through the woods

Confession: yesterday I rode over the George Washington Bridge, and up River Road, for the first time ever! And I didn't want to come home. It's so beautiful out there: trees, birds, the river. And hills. Yes. But for every uphill that burned, there was a soaring downhill: a balm to the legs.

I've been hearing about the magical River Road for years, but I've been stuck in a loop, commuting, and doing laps in Prospect Park. Yesterday, I finally broke out of my regular orbit -- and so can you!

Because every Sunday morning, Redbeard Bikes leads a shop ride up the West Side Highway, over the GW Bridge, and up River Road or 9W.

This is a no-drop ride, which means we'll go at the pace of our slowest rider. We'll set the pace and distance based on who shows up, and we'll check in with each other along the way to see how people are doing.

Every Sunday. Meet at Redbeard Bikes at 7:15 AM, depart at 7:30 AM.

Tomorrow on the blog: a Q-and-A about what to wear and what to bring. Stay tuned.

Questions? Ideas? Email me at kasia@redbeardbikes.com, or send a message on Facebook.
