  • Velocio Signature Bib Will Rock Your World

Equinox picked the Velocio Women's Signature Bib Shorts for their list of 7 fall cycling essentials -- and we agree 100%.

The Velocio bib is the best bib I've worn. Ladies, take note: the mesh bib upper = no straps sliding around.

I swear, this thing makes you faster. (A lion doesn't think twice about its skin; it simply chases the gazelle.)

Redbeard Bikes is the only shop in New York to carry the line! Both the shorts and knickers versions of the bib are available in the shop now. We also have the new spin tops and spin shorts.

You can try the Velocio bib for 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can return it for a refund.

  • WE Bike NYC Fundraiser this Thursday!

Our friends at WE Bike NYC are hosting their annual fundraiser this Thursday, 10/16, at 7pm!

WE Bike NYC, is a group based in New York City open to all women, female-identifying, and gender non-conforming people who enjoy biking (or think they might). WE Bike aims to break down barriers to cycling by offering social rides, training rides, mechanics workshops and ride scholarships. WE Bike because it’s a great way to get around New York, it’s healthy and it’s FUN!

The party is open to all! It's happening at Black Bear Bar, 70 North 6th Street in Williamsburg.

Enter their raffle for a chance to win a free bike fitting at Redbeard Bikes, and other cool prizes.

  • Redbeard Bikes Ladies' Night Flight

Ladies - you know who you are. To you -- the bicycle is freedom! You don't ride -- you fly. (See poster below.)

Sure, your bike takes you from Point A to Point B. But sometimes you want Point Z.

    Z for Zen.

Point Z is -- ready? -- Prospect Park at night. It's New York City's best kept secret -- along with a few cafes I cannot name here, lest Time Out New York writes about them.

And on Thursday nights - you too can go there. Because Thursday night is the Redbeard Bikes Ladies' Night Flight.

We meet on Grand Army Plaza at the entrance to the Park. We usually do 3 laps, though you are welcome to peel off early or stay longer.

All ladies, all bikes, all styles, all riding levels are welcome! We'll talk about bikes. And life. We'll listen to the crickets, and look out for raccoons. We will ride through the winter -- although heavy rain, snow, or ice cancels. (We'll play it by ear; check Facebook for latest status update.)

    Requirements:

    • A front and rear light for your bike (available at Redbeard Bikes).
    • A desire to ride in company.
    • No apologies about your speed!

    P.S. Please tag photos #redbeardbikes and #ladieswhofly!

  • 10/7 Redbeard Bikes/Liv Women's Fit, Form & Function Clinic

Redbeard Bikes and Liv Cycling are pleased to present a Women's Fit, Form & Function clinic at the shop on Tuesday, October 7th (7-9pm).

Women of all riding levels and styles are welcome.

Join us for a fun and informative evening about proper proper bike fit, ideal riding posture, and how to pick the best bike for your riding style and ability.

Refreshments will be served. We will offer participants 15% off women's apparel & shoes, and 15% off bike fittings (must be scheduled in 2014).

    RSVPS appreciated here

Redbeard Bikes is located at 69 Jay Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

  • Redbeard Ride to the Sea 8/30 - in solidarity with the Afghan Women's Cycling Team

Ride with us on Saturday, August 30th, to show our support of the Afghan Women's Cycling Team, and to celebrate the human right to ride a bike!

Watch the trailer for "Afghan Cycles" to hear the team's inspiring story.

Meet at Redbeard Bikes in DUMBO, Brooklyn, at 7:30 AM to fill our tires & water bottles & get to know each other a bit. The ride gets rolling at 8 AM and returns to the shop by 11 AM.

Why the sea? Because the sea is freedom.

Our route will take us along the Brooklyn Navy Yard, down Vanderbilt, through Prospect Park, through the quiet streets of Victorian Ditmas Park, Midwood and south Brooklyn, until we reach the sea. Why the sea? Because the sea is freedom.

We'll return by a slightly different way, north on Ocean Parkway.

Riders of all levels are welcome. This is a no-drop ride; we will rest at reds. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Don't live in New York? Folks all over the world are organizing Global Solidarity Rides, too. Check out the list here. If there's no ride in your city -- make one!

Liv/giant and Mountain2Mountain are sponsors of the Afghan Women's Cycling Team and their bid for the 2020 Olympics.

Ride details can also be found on BikeNYC.org.
